Britain on Film: Black Britain

Tour Events

ICO Tour – Black Britain on Film

First we hopped on the train, then we went for a country stroll, now, in our third Britain on Film programme, we’re exploring the length and breadth of the UK through the eyes and voices of black Britons throughout the 20th century.

Bringing together films spanning a period of vast social change in the UK from 1901 to 1985, Britain on Film: Black Britain offers audiences the chance to explore stories of migration, community and the battle against inequality while celebrating vivid black British life and culture on screen.

Films of work, joy and struggle form this programme, from Edwardian collieries to Notting Hill Carnival in the 1980s. Check out the films in the programme here.
