MOVING HISTORY – RURAL SOUTH EAST – BERKSHIRE
Compilations of films showing our changing rural landscape will be shown over a number of days at two County Shows in the South East, at the Hop Farming exhibition at the Kent History & Library Centre and at ‘Our Country Lives’ exhibition at the Museum of English Rural Life.
Museum of English Rural Life
The Museum of English Rural Life, University of Reading, Berkshire has embarked on ‘Our Country Lives’, an HLF-funded redevelopment project that will engage a new generation with rural heritage through new, themed displays, innovative interpretation and an exciting programme of activities. Following the new galleries re-opening in the summer, MERL will host a regional launch event for BoF Rural in the autumn. Showing films from Wessex Film and Sound Archive, Screen Archive South East and the MERL collections to be complemented by a display from MERL. After the launch event, throughout September/October 2016, selected edited films from Britain on Film Rural will then be made available to visitors in the Forces for Change Gallery which includes a screen viewing area.
